Working with Moment Factory Music and GMUNK Studio, our team created visuals for three songs featured in Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour. We created custom graphics for screens that moved throughout Billie’s performance, which included multiple overhead displays and eight LED columns that could raise and lower. Special thanks to the Moment Factory team for making this project happen and to GMUNK Studio for bringing me on board for the laser glitch party.

CHIHIRO

Chihiro was the opening song for Billie’s tour and we used a mixture of 3D animations and existing music video footage run through analog glitch modules to achieve this look. The Tachyons+ Dreamweapon was used to process all the visuals and we then filmed the glitched results on a 13” sony trinitron CRT television. All the treated visuals were filmed on a BMPC 6K camera and a zeiss 50mm macro lens.

OVER NOW

The creative team requested that Over Now feel like an insane rave party, so we went full abstract laser glitch with the treatment. The Moment Factory team provided us with footage of Billie, which we processed through the Dreamweapon glitch module. We also used various 8mm film textures and water cymatics to mix in. The laser effects were captured by firing multiple lasers into a fish tank full of water, special thanks to Hasmood for jumping in on laser operations for our shoot.

WILDFLOWER

We created the visuals for Wildflower by shooting lasers at various bouquets and then running the footage through the Dreamweapon glitch module. All the bouquets were purchased from Solabee Flowers & Botanicals in Portland and then filmed while they rotated on a motorized lazy susan. As the flowers rotated, various laser line patterns were projected onto them and filmed through glass prisms. The final results were glitched and then filmed on a 4K resolution monitor using the BMPC 6K camera.

BEHIND THE SCENES

We worked with a small team of three for our studio shoots, which included everything from blasting soundwaves at a mirrored concave disk of water to shooting five synchronized lasers into a fish tank. Special thanks to Hasmood for operating all the Lasercubes and to GMUNK for keeping things spicy as always. All the visuals were filmed on a BMPC 6K camera and a 50mm Zeiss makro planar lens.
