LCAD WORKSHOP 2024

Role: Workshop Instructor
Client: Laguna College of Art & Design
Co-Instructor: Mixtus
Created: 2024

In 2024 I was invited by Mixtus to host an effects workshop at the Laguna College of Art and Design. I tasked the students with creating 12 second videos that represented the theme of ‘Intervals’. The students were shown a variety of in-camera and analog tricks to generate imagery along with a wide range of digital post effects to spice up their animations or videos. A special thanks to LCAD for hosting me and to all the amazing students that chose to allocate their weekend for participating or assisting in my workshop.

THE WORKSHOP

The workshop began with introducing students to the brief and then various practical effects process. They were shown how to generate shapes using cymatic sand, how to distort visuals on a monitor using camera optics and how to distort digital content using analog glitch tools. The students were able to use both the Tachyons+ Dreamweapon Module and the BPMC HDK-01 module for their glitch processing. The second workshop day featured digital effects demos using both After Effects and Cinema 4D, showing students how to manipulate the content they shot on the first day. Our final workshop day we watched all the pieces together and did a closing critique.
