Our third assignment in Design for Motion, taught by Professor Austin Shaw, was to create a matte painting depicting something galactic.  I decided to depict a drifting community of beings that orbit a space between two neighboring planets.  Shown below is a breakdown of my process from 3D renders to early concept sketches.
